Covid-19 Mentee Support

OUR EmergencY ACTIONS

As the global Covid-19 pandemic hit Kenya, our team got together to find solutions to help our mentees and their families cope.

In these times of crisis, our organisation has decided to re-orient our resources towards support for basic needs. Normally, mentees receive individual and group mentorship through our Mentorship scheme, but as schools have now closed in Kenya, and as we need to be responsible and practise social distancing, that Scheme has been put on hold.

As you may know, our mentees come from underpriviledged backgrounds, living in areas of Nairobi where it is difficult to self-isolate. Many of their parents depend on casual work, which will be difficult to obtain in the next few months. Nairobi is now under lock-down, with a curfew imposed from 7pm until 5am.

We have organised our volunteers to distribute baskets to the most vulnerable of our mentees monthly. Each basket contains several long-lasting foods (maize flour, wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar), soap and reusable sanitary pads for the girls.

The distribution takes place with all possible health safety measures in place to ensure the safety of both our volunteers and the mentees and their families.

If you are interested in helping us in this endeavour, please click on the button below to donate! Your donations will help us to buy the contents of the baskets, and to pay for taxis for our volunteers, in order to avoid public transports.

Thank you all in advance for your tremendous support, on behalf of all of us, and of our mentees!
